Guess what? The Mets won again. Guess what again? The Mets got another shutout. The Mets continue their virtuouso performance demolishing the Colorado Rockies 7-0, extending their winning streak to nine games, and keeping them just a half game behind the bumbling Philadelphia Phillies.
Once again the Mets got great pitching from Mike Pelfrey, who was completely dominate from start to finish. Pelfrey went eight strong innings, walking none and strking out five. He was terrific; it got to the point that the Met fans were chanting his name in the eighth.
Pelfrey and the Mets got all they needed in the first inning, as Carlos Beltran belted a three -run homerun into the old picnic area in left field. It was Beltran's 15th homer of the year, but his second homerun of the year while batting right handed.
In the second, with Ramon Castro on second, Jose Reyes drilled a single to center to bring home the lumbering catcher to give the Mets a 4-0 lead.
Finally in the fifth, Carlos Delgado blasted a moon shot to the right field scoreboard, a two-run shot, that gave the Mets a 7-0 lead.
The Mets are now 51-44 and are smokin' hot right now. Some would say that this is a bad time for a break, but after such a dramatic first half, the Mets could use a break.

Both New England and Miami would make the playoffs, with the Dolphins as a divison winner and the Patriots as a wild card. The Patriots make the postseason if Baltimore loses one of its final two games. 3) If the Patriots win out and the Dolphins and Jets split, then the Patriots win the AFC East. The Jets will have to hope that they beat Miami to win that tie-breaker and, further, hope that they have a better conference record than the Baltimore Ravens in order to clinch the sixth seed. 4) If the Patriots and Ravens win out and the Dolphins and Jets split their final two games, then ...
