Yankees Fall Backwards Into Win

YANKEES 4

It was not pretty Saturday afternoon, as the Yankees had to take a hit batter in order just to win a game, that they should have won easily.
The Yankees got out to a quick start, as Melky Cabrera singled to right to bring home Robinson Cano for a 1-0 lead. Later Brett Gardner doulbed to center for his seventh RBI. 2-0 Bombers.
Against the light hittting A's, one would think that this would be enough with Joba Chamberlin on the mound, but the oppisite was the case. Chamberlin was good, going six innings, scattering six hits and surrendering only one run, but the bullpen gave it up.
First Jose Veras's wild pitch allowed Wes Bankston to score from third to tie the game. Later in the ninth, Mariano Rivera continues to struggle with tied games, allowing Oakland to take the lead as Ryan Sweeney drove in Rajai Davis; 3-2 A's.
But the Yankees charged back. With two out in the ninth, Robinson Cano hit a double, and was followed up with a single by Wilson Betemit to tie the game at three.
Now in the twelfth, the Yankees loaded the bases with Derek Jeter, A-Rod and Richie Sexson, and what won the game? A hit batter. Jose Molina, who came in for a struggling Jorge Posada, took a pith off of his left knee, allowing Jeter to score the winning run.
The Yankees are getting hot, watch out for them to stick around for the wild card and divisional races. Also don't expect much from the A's, they have no offense and no pitching now that Dan Haren and Joe Blanton are gone.
