Yankees Stay Perfect In Preseason

YANKEES 5
RAYS 1

The Yankees are now 2-0 on the preseason thanks in part to the efforts of Jorge Posada and Shelly Duncan.

Posada, who had to miss the second half of last season due to a knee injury, is back with a vengeance in 2009. The former all star catcher hit a solo home run in the third inning to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead on Tampa Bay.

In the fifth with Xavier Nady on second, Posada doubled to drive in Nady to make it 2-0 Bombers.

Finally in the seventh Shelly Duncan blasted a three run home run in his lone at bat to give New York a dominating 5-1 lead. BOXSCORE.

Phil Hughes got the start for the Yankees. He pitched two shut out innings, striking out two and walking one. This is a big camp for Hughes, who has to prove that his disastrous rookie year in 2008 was just an aberration. So far, Hughes is off to a good start.
