Jets Tap Mornhinweg as Offensive Coordinator

Ok, you can stop laughing Jets fans! We know, we know. It is so painful it's funny.

Yes the New York Jets have decided to sign former Eagles offensive coordinator and head coaching flame-out Marty Mornhinweg as the teams offensive coordinator. This coming just hours after the club signed John Idzik to the post of General Manager.

Mornhinweg is the third offensive coordinator for the Jets in two years. The club failed with Brian Schottenheimer, and failed even more with Tony Sparano. So why not bring in a guy who couldn't manage the Eagles offense well, and is widely condsidered the biggest failure in the NFL for his 2-year stint with the Detroit Lions as head coach where he compiled a 5-27 record?

Brilliant move by Woody Johnson and company.

Mornhinweg is considered a "quarterback guru," which is laughable since he couldn't get Joey Harrington to play well at all in Detroit. Unless you consider his work with established quarterback's Donavan McNabb and Michael Vick worthy of the guru title -- we will think otherwise.

Surely the speculation has begun that the Mornhinweg hire means that Vick is not too far behind. Don't count on it. He's 33-years-old, and very brittle. Then again Woody Johnson has never said no to the biggest star names, no matter how flawed they are.

Get ready for some more ineffective offense Jets fans!!
