Angles Spank Yankees As Usual

ANGLES 12
YANKEES 6

With Manny Ramirez gone to the Dodgers, and the Yankees stocked up on All Star talent after the trade deadline, one would think the Yankees would begin their march to overtake the Red Sox for the wild card. Then the Angles came.

The LA Angles of Anahiem have always had their way with the Yankees, and it didn't change tonight as the Halos spanked the Bombers 12-6 at the Stadium, Thursday night.

The Angles got it going in the third. Chone Figgins, who was a pest for the Yankees all night long, led off with a single to center. A batter later, Mark Texeria singled up the middle to put two on with one out. After Vladamir Gurrero flyed out and Texeria stole second, Torri Hunter blasted a three run homerun to right to give Anaheim a 3-0 lead.

Things wouldn't get better for Yankee ace Andy Pettite. Garrett Anderson singled up the middle, and Howie Kendrick singled to right. Finally, Juan Rivera homered to left to give Anahiem a overwhelming 6-0 lead.

The Yankees really never answered. In the sixth, the Angels added four more runs to all but end this ballgame. Joe Mathis doubled to right with one out. Figgins again singled to center, good enough to drive home Mathis to make it 7-2 Angles. Figgins then stole second, Eric Aybar walked, and Bad Vlad was really bad as he homered to left to give Anahiem a 10-2 lead.

The only highlight for the Yankees was a solo homerun by Xavier Nady to make it 10-3. And in spite of some sloppyness by the Angles in the ninth, the Yankees never had a chance in this game at all.

BTW, the Yankees have nine more games vs. the Angles this season. Ouch!!
