Yankee Favorite Bobby Murcer Dies

As has been reported numerous times over the course of the day, Yankee player and broadcaster Bobby Murcer passed away Saturday after a lengthy battle with brain cancer. He was 62 years - old.

Murcer is best remembered by younger generations as broadcaster, working both at MSG with Jim Katt and Craig Singleton, and on FOX with Tim McCarver doing Yankee broadcasts.

Still by older generations, especially Yankee fans, Murcer is best remembered for being a fan favorite as a player. He was a four time All Star, all with the Bronx Bombers. He hit .277 with 252 career homeruns.

In 2006, Murcer was diagnosed and treated for cancer, and seemed to make a recovery, as he helped broadcast the Yankees 2007 home opener. But the cancer came back this past year, and after a long battle took the legends life.
