Yankees Get Nady for Nothing

The Yankees have made a splash, and a big one in the non-wavier trade period that is less than a week away from expiring.

The Yankees sent Russ Olendorf, and minor leagueres George Kontos, Phil Coke and Jose Tabata to Pittsburgh for Xavier Nady and reliver Damaso Marte.

This solidifies the Yankees in two spots of need: middle relief and outfield. Nady, a former New York Met, is having his best year, a free-agent year, hitting .330 with 13 homers and 57 RBI. If he didn't get injured he probably would have close to 20 homers, and 75 RBI. He provides the Bombers with a needed right handed bat, and a glove in left field. Now the Yankees can leave Johnny Damon as a DH, or make Melky Cabera a DH on occasion.

As for Marte, he give the Yankees a needed middle reliever. This season Marte is 4-0 with five saves and 15 holds. He has a 3.47 ERA. He may not be the best guy to find for the eighth inning bridge to Mariano Rivera, but considering the prices for Colorado Rockies closer Brian Fuentes, this is the best the Yankees could do.

Great job by the Yankees, they are completely solidified, now they have to start winning on a consistent basis in division play.
