Cohen's Week 4 NFL Picks

Believe it or not, we are now offically a quarter into the NFL season. It's a big week for some teams, as positioning inside divisions begin.

Cardinals (2-1) @ Jets (1-2): The Cardinals are coming off a bad loss in Washington last Sunday, but they may have made the best strategic move of the week for the Jets game. The Cards decided to stay on the East Coast all week to prepare, instead of flying back to Arizona and then back to New Jersey. Add that to the leathal weapons of Larry Fitzgerald, Anquain Boldin at receiver and the resurgance of veteran quarterback Kurt Warner, the Cards might actually be for real this year.

The Jets on the other hand are a total mess. Brett Favre is recovering from an ankle injury he suffered last week, and the lack of communication between head coach Eric Mangini and his players has heads scratching. CARDINALS 34, JETS 20.

Vikings (1-2) @ Titans (3-0): The Vikings finally got a win last week vs. Carolina, and the move to Gus Ferrotte, doesn't look like a bad move ... so far. Ferrotte has been a journeyman failure wherever he has gone, and to think that he will re-engerize the Vikings is an absolute joke. As for Tennessee, they have the best D in the league and Kerry Collins is doing a nice job in place of nut case Vince Young. TITANS 17, VIKINGS 10.

Packers (2-1) @ Buccaneers (2-1): Even though it is early in the season, this game could have huge playoff implications. The Packers are desperate for a win after Sunday night's debacle against the Cowboys. Aaron Rodgers looked average in the loss, and he needs to step it up this week in a big road game. The Bucs are flying right now after a big win in Chicago last week; Brian Griese has looked solid; the running game is good. The question is, with all the age on the Bucs, can they last the long haul? BUCCANEERS 20, PACKERS 17.

Bills (3-0) @ Rams (0-3): This game has "TRAP" written all over it for the Bills. The Bills are riding high right now after starting 3-0 this season. Trent Edwards has been good, Marshawn Lynch has been great, and the defense is very good, but the Bills had to come from behind to beat the dysfunctional Raiders; how will they do this week against a Rams team that everyone expects to lay down and die? UPSET SPECIAL: RAMS 30, BILLS 23.

Redskins (2-1) @ Cowboys (3-0): The Skins have really looked good the last two weeks spanking the Saints and Cardinals, but when they faced a real defense in week one against the Giants, they looked awful. The Cowboys are known for having a high-powered offense, but their defense really looked good last week against a talented Green Bay offense. COWBOYS 45, REDSKINS 17.

Eagles (2-1) @ Bears (1-2): The Bears need help. After beating up the suddenly punchless Colts in week one, the Bears have come crashing back to Earth. Kyle Orton looks like ... well ... um ... Kyle Orton. The offense stinks in CHI town, but that's nothing new for the Bears. If kick-returner Devin Hester is to miss this one, the Bears can forget about their chances against the physical Eagles.
As for Philly, they are riding high as well. Donavon McNabb has been great this year, but if the running back Brian Westbrook is still bothered by a leg injury, this game will be tighter than it should be.Expect to see Orton eating lots of grass in this one. EAGLES 19, BEARS 9.

Jets, Dolphins and Patriots Playoff Breakdown

Here are the formuli that could get the Jets into and out of the playoff party this season: 1) If the Jets win against Seattle and Miami, they win the AFC East based on a better conference record (8-4) than the New England Patriots, even if New England wins out as well. 2) If the Patriots win out and the Dolphins win out and finish at 11-5, the Jets would be 10-6, or 9-7, and probably out of the playoffs. Both New England and Miami would make the playoffs, with the Dolphins as a divison winner and the Patriots as a wild card. The Patriots make the postseason if Baltimore loses one of its final two games. 3) If the Patriots win out and the Dolphins and Jets split, then the Patriots win the AFC East. The Jets will have to hope that they beat Miami to win that tie-breaker and, further, hope that they have a better conference record than the Baltimore Ravens in order to clinch the sixth seed. 4) If the Patriots and Ravens win out and the Dolphins and Jets split their final two games, then ...

Is Aaron Glenn in Danger of Getting Fired?

According to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio there is a "chance"   that Jets head coach Aaron Glenn could be fired at seasons end.  While Florio doesn't site any sources, the rumor has caught fire the last two days. The question is would it make sense? Let's examine this for a second?  Why it Makes Sense:  Glenn has not been great in his first year as Head Coach of this team. The talent has taken a major step backwards, granted two of those talented players were traded away in Sauce Gardner to Indianapolis and Quinnen Williams to Dallas.  The decision he and GM Darren Mougey made to give Justin Fields a two year deal proved to be a horrible mistake, and Glenn stuck with Fields for far too long before pulling the plug following the Jets loss to the Patriots on a Thursday night in mid November.  Glenn gave now former Defensive Coordinator Steve Wilks too much power to run the defense, and the players couldn't stand Wilks. Reports indicated this week af...

Same Ol' Jets! Gang Green Dropped by Ravens

RAVENS 24 - JETS 9  In short the opener to the 2022 season for the New York Jets was a complete and utter disaster.  A team that came into the season with the promise of better days ahead, a team that had taken on so many kudos in the off-season for what so many in the media had claimed was an impeccable off-season and draft, came out flat as a pancake when it mattered the most.  If this was a debut of what is to come for the Jets in 2022, you better start preparing your 2023 draft boards.  Sunday's 24-9 loss wasn't just a defeat at the hands of a better team, it was a total indictment of the Jets current predicament.  The Jets offensive line, which has been battered and beaten this summer with the losses of Meckhi Becton and Duane Brown looked like a sieve on Sunday. Joe Flacco, who is not exactly fleet of foot, was under siege all afternoon. The fact he came out of Sunday's game having been sacked only three times was a miracle in itself.  George Fa...
