BILLS 3
The Miami Dolphins continue their resurrection project from worst to first, beating the Buffalo Bills 16-3 in Toronto, Canada, and moving into a three-way tie for first place in the AFC East.
The Dolphins were spearheaded by the arm of ex-Jet Chad Pennington, who completed 23 of 29 passes for 181 yards and a touchdown. In the first quarter, Pennington completed a 20 yard strike to Anthony Fasano to give Miami the early 7-0 lead. Miami would not look back.
Bills backup quarterback J.P. Losman was his dreadful self, in place of the injured Trent Edwards. Losman completed only 48 percent of his passes for 123 yards; he was sacked four times and threw an interception. It didn't help matters for Buffalo that Losman was the team's leading rusher with 53 yards on five carries. Marshawn Lynch had only 31 yards on 13 carries on the day.
The Dolphins remaining points came on three Dan Carpenter field goals. Still, Miami was dominant in this game. They held the ball for 37 minutes and rushed for a total of 115 yards. Ronnie Brown did not have a great day, rushing for only 70 yards, but Ricky Williams picked up the slack with 40 of his own.
The Dolphins are now 8-5 with games against the 49ers, Chiefs and Jets left on the schedule. They have a chance to win the AFC East, which is remarkable considering that this team was 1-15 a year ago. It is obvious that the fingerprints of Bill Parcells is over this one. Parcells, the President of Football Operations, has rebuilt the Dolphins into one of the leauge's most prideful franchises in just one season! That is the fastest turn around for a Parcells team ever!
