Rangers Fall Out of First Place

The New York Rangers fell out of first place Saturday night, after a crushing 2-1 loss to the Washington Capitals.

After grabbing a 1-0 lead in the second period, the Rangers quickly let go of the lead. Washington's Mike Green and Alexander Ovechkin were responsible for the two Washington goals.

The Rangers have lost eight of their last twelve, and are now tied with Philadelphia for first in the Atlantic.

In other local New York action, the Islanders lost to the San Jose Sharks 5-3. New York got to within 4-3, before San Jose's Patrick Marleau put the game away with a empty net goal. The Islanders are entrenched in last place in the Atlantic division.
