Mets Re-Sign Perez

After much debate and frustration, the New York Mets have finally re-signed lefty Oliver Perez to solidify the number four slot in the Mets starting rotation. The contract will pay Perez $36 million over three years.

Perez is a strange case. He pitches extremely well against superior competition, i.e. Yankees, Braves, Phillies, Cardinals, but never pitches well against inferior opponents like the Marlins, and Nationals.

Perez was 10-7 last year with a 4.22 ERA, striking out 180 batters in 194 innings.
