That's right; just when you thought you had seen enough of Brett Favre, he is ready to make his second comeback in as many years. After helping the Jets suffer a historical five game collapse at the end of the 2008 season, Favre is ready to bring his share of happiness to Minnesota, the place he really wanted to play last season.
Favre and his agent Bus Cook are scheduled to meet with the Vikings and coach Brad Childress at some point this week, to gauge Favre's intentions. If Favre should join the Vikings, he will automatically become the team's starting quarterback, considering that Sage Rosenfels and Travis Jackson stink to high heaven.
What are the perks for playing for the Vikings?
1) Favre has the best running back in football to hand off to in Adrian Peterson. Peterson had 1,760 yards rushing in his second season in the NFL and should get better. If we ever see another 2,000 yard back, this is the guy.
2) Dome. Unlike last season, when Favre had to throw into the cruel crosswinds of Giants Stadium, he will get to play in a heated and air conditioned dome in Minnesota! Hey, not bad for a retirement party, heh? Too bad he will have to play two games in frigid temperatures: Green Bay and Chicago. STORY.
By the way, this has been Favre's mission since last June: to get even with the Packers, and now he will finally get his shot. The Packers visit Minnesota on October 5, a Monday night game, so expect ESPN to be clicking it's heels once Favre decides to go the Minnesota. Favre will then make his return to Lambeau field on November 1, a 1:00 game on FOX. Too bad NBC won't have the power to flex that game for Sunday night. It should be interesting to see if the Packer faithful boo their mighty legend of the gridiron.
