Jets Interested in LaDainian Tomlinson?

To quote Jon McEnroe: "Are you kidding me? You can't be serious?"

Yes, the Jets have not had the greatest off-season in the world, not their fault, because of the fallout over the collective bargaining agreement that has led to an uncapped year and restrictions on teams that qualified for the second round of the 2009-2010 playoffs, there is not much Gang Green can do this off-season.

After trading away Kerry Rhodes to Arizona, the Jets picked up Brodney Poole to a cheap one year deal to replace him. Poole had a decent season for the Browns recording 50 tackles, four interceptions and a sack, but that is not the story here.

LaDainian Tomlinson, the disgruntled running back of the San Diego Chargers is coming to Florham Park today to pay the Jets a visit. A day after losing Thomas Jones to the Chiefs, the Jets are interested in Tomlinson.

Three years ago, this would be a brilliant move, now - not so much. Over the last two seasons, Tomlinson's production has been on a sharp decline. He ran for only 1110 yards with a 3.8 ypc average in 2008, and last season, ran for only 730 yards, 3.3 ypc. He is 30 years old, and already less productive than Thomas Jones was over that same time span.

If it was between keeping TJ and signing LT, the Jets were better off with Jones.

Plus, Tomlinson has the reputation as guy who tends to pout on the sideline when he is not heavily involved in a game. Bringing in a miserable, washed up running back would be a big mistake for the Jets, even when one has the big ticket name like Tomlinson.

The Jets could talk to him, but it should end there.

Sunday night after the Jets had lt as a guest, conflicting reports say he's locked up. Others say the Vikes are still in it. I think they need him. One question, though? Who's next Phillip Rivers? Francisco Lindor Remains Red Hot as Mets Top Phillies

 Francisco Lindor remains the hottest player in Queens right now.  The Mets shortstop blasted two more home runs, including a three-run blast in the bottom of the eighth inning, Monday night to help propel the Mets to a 5-4 win over Philadelphia.   Lindor who typically struggles in the month of April is putting together a heck of a month. Monday's two hit effort was the 10th game in the last 11 where Lindor has recorded a hit. In fact in the month of April alone this year, Lindor was hitting at .311 coming into Monday's action.  On the year, Lindor is batting .284 with five homers and 13 RBI.  Lindor's efforts proved to be prophetic, as the Phillies Alec Bohm crushed a three-run bomb off Edwin Diaz in the top of the ninth to cut the Mets lead to a single run. Fortunately for New York, Diaz was able to shut the door with strikeouts of Trea Turner and Bryce Harper.  New York (16-7) has now won five in a row.

Is Aaron Glenn in Danger of Getting Fired?

 According to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio there is a "chance"   that Jets head coach Aaron Glenn could be fired at seasons end.  While Florio doesn't site any sources, the rumor has caught fire the last two days. The question is would it make sense? Let's examine this for a second?  Why it Makes Sense:  Glenn has not been great in his first year as Head Coach of this team. The talent has taken a major step backwards, granted two of those talented players were traded away in Sauce Gardner to Indianapolis and Quinnen Williams to Dallas.  The decision he and GM Darren Mougey made to give Justin Fields a two year deal proved to be a horrible mistake, and Glenn stuck with Fields for far too long before pulling the plug following the Jets loss to the Patriots on a Thursday night in mid November.  Glenn gave now former Defensive Coordinator Steve Wilks too much power to run the defense, and the players couldn't stand Wilks.
