Carlos Beltran is not close to rejoining the Mets. In fact he has not been cleared for baseball activities.
According to GM Omar Minaya, Beltran is hitting in the cage, but not running at full speed. At this rate Beltran won't be back with the Mets until late July.
In the off-season, Beltran had a second knee surgery, that has not totally healed, preventing him from playing this long into the season. Who knows if we will ever see Beltran this season.
