Yankees Stun Rangers, Take Game One

YANKEES 6
RANGERS 5

This is the M.O. of the New York Yankees. No matter what the score. No matter what inning. No matter whether game is at Yankee Stadium, or on the road, the Yankees are never ever out of a game.

The Texas Rangers learned that the hard way as they watched their 5-0 lead over the Yankees in game one of the ALCS erased in the eighth inning as the Yankees stole the game 6-5 to take a 1-0 series lead.

The comeback started in the seventh when Robinson Cano homered to cut the Rangers lead to 5-1. Then the Yankees poured it on in the eighth. Derek Jeter's double down the third baseline brought home Brett Gardner from second to cut the lead to three.

Later in the inning Alex Rodriguez's single plated both Jeter and Nick Swisher to cut the lead to 5-4. The Yankees tied it on a Cano single to drive in Mark Teixiera to stun all in attendance in Arlington. Finally, Marcus Thames who has been clutch all postseason came through with the game winning hit, on an RBI single to drive in Cano.

Cano went 3-for-4 with the homer and two RBI. The potential AL MVP was brilliant yet again in the clutch for New York.

Mariano Rivera shut down the Rangers in the ninth to close the game out.

Kudos to the Yankees bullpen of Joba Chamberlain, Dustin Moseley, Kerry Wood, and Rivera, who shut the Rangers out for the final five innings of the game, after CC Sabathia was shelled by the Rangers for five runs in four innings.
