Yankees Sign Mariano Rivera to 2 year Deal

The Yankees have taken care of one of their aging veterans today, when they completed negotiations on a two-year extension for closer Mariano Rivera.

The contract is worth upwards of $30 million over the two years. Rivera has defied father time pitching to a 1.88 ERA with 33 saves at age 41. He has proven to be one of the most valuable pieces to the Yankees dynasty over the past 15 years.

Unlike his teammate Derek Jeter, the Rivera contract negotiations were consistently behind closed doors, and didn't contain the kind of bitterness that the Jeter contract has garnered.

Jeter is still not re-signed to a contract.
