Giants owner John Mara endorsed coach Tom Couglin after the Giants 17-14 victory over the Redskins Sunday night in Washington.
The Giants were eliminated from the playoffs during the victory, by the Green Bay Packers who beat the Chicago Bears 10-3.
"I believe in this guy," Mara said. "I believe in this guy, I believe in stability, and you can't build anything if you're constantly making changes and firing people, and that's just not our culture; it's just not what we believe in. And we think this guy - we know this guy is a good coach, and we want him to lead us into next season."
Mara added that Coughlin was safe even if the Giants lost to the Redskins, telling reporters he had a meeting with Couglin last week, and told him to not believe anything he read in the papers and online.
