It's Over! The Rangers season ends in happless effort in D.C.

CAPITALS 3
RANGERS 1

The mediocre 2010-2011 season for the New York Rangers came to a bitterly disapointing end, as the Blue Shirts fell behind the Washington Capitals 3-0, en route to a 3-1 lose, ending their inconsistent season in the first round of the playoffs.

The Capitals took the lead in the first period on a Mike Green power play goal, mid-way through the period to give the Caps a lead they would never relinquish .

The Rangers offense was non-existent, as it has been all year. They attempted 27 goals in the game, but 11 of those came in the third period.

Alex Ovechkin and Alexander Semin, who killed the Rangers all series, added the Caps final two goals to augment the lead to 3-0.

The hockey season is now over in New York. In some respects, thank God, hockey season is just too long.
