Mets acutally win a ball game

METS 3
BRAVES 2

Yes, ladies and gentlemen; there is actually footage of the Mets winning a baseball game this afternoon, which means we are still looking for real footage of Big Foot and the Loch Ness Monster in our search for "things you don't see on a given day."

Okay, enough of the wise cracks.

The Mets actually did win a game, beating the Atlanta Braves 3-2 to improve their NL worst record to 5-11, ending a seven game losing streak that included losing double-headers to both Atlanta and Colorado. The Mets were buoyed by a solid performance from Dillon Gee.

Gee was fantastic, going five and two-thirds innings, scattering five hits and a run to get his first win of the season.

Offensively, manager Terry Collins made a drastic change to the line-up putting catcher Josh Thole into the number two hole in the batting order and dropping putrid Angel Pagan down in the order.

It worked.

Thole was 2-for-4 with two RBI singles, both of which drove in Jose Reyes as the Mets built a 3-1 lead. The Mets used a combination of Chris Capuano, R.A. Dickey, Jason Isringhausen and K-Rod to close the door and earn their first win in over a week.
