Rangers hold off Caps, and win game three

RANGERS 3
CAPITALS 2

One aspect that is consistent about this Rangers team this year, whenever they have their backs to the wall, they suddenly muster up the courage to win hockey games.

That was the case, as the Blue Shirts entered Sunday's matinee, trailing the Washington Capitals 2-0 in a best of seven series.

The Rangers needed to get a win at home to re-enter this playoff series. The way the Rangers had played the first two games, their offense was nonexistent, having scored only one goal in two games.

Hence has been their trouble all year. They don't score. That is why they had a hard time even qualifying for these playoffs. Do they deserve to be in the postseason? Not really, but they are here.

The Rangers somehow found a way to win this game. After Alex Ovechkin scored a tying goal for the Capitals, the Rangers surprisingly took the lead on a Vinny Prospal goal eight minutes into the third period.

Then the Rangers choked, as usual when Mike Knuble's goal tied it for Washington in the wanning minutes of the period. Luckily with less than two minutes to go the Rangers got the big play when Brandon Dubinsky scored the game winner to send the Rangers tortured faithful home happy for a change.

The Rangers will now go into a crucial game four down two games to one. They need to win, or it could be over.
