"Mike Zaun 1776" Parody an Example of a Social Media Explosion

While the real Mike Francesa probably doesn't like this video, and as a broadcaster I could empathize with him a little bit, but I have to admit the Mike Zaun 1776 video is not only spot on in its parody, it might be going down very quickly as one of the most brilliant YouTube videos ever made.

The video which was created by Bill Buchanan an apparent Francesa junkie, created a video in which he not only imitates Big Mike, he becomes Francesa! Only this time Mike is not dishing it out on the Mets and Yankees; Buchanan imagines what Francesa's version of sports talk would be like in 1776 during the height of the Revolutionary War.

The video which was posted on Monday has received wide acclaim. Everyone is talking about it from Don Imus to Opie and Anthony. Just check out the guys Twitter account, you will see that even Evan Roberts and Joe Beningo were talking about it too. This is another example of how social media can explode at any given moment. I am sure the majority of Buchanan's 1023 Twitter followers joined up in the last 24 hours! Even the video has over 70,000 views after one day!

It just goes to show you how quickly anything, even the most mundane things can become viral within minutes of online publication. No matter how you cut it, this is a video that transcends the social media landscape.
