Judy Coughlin, the wife of two-time Super Bowl winning Head Coach Tom Coughlin, passed away Wednesday morning. She was 77.
A devoted supporter of her husband throughout his Hall of Fame-bound career from Boston College to Jacksonville and New York, Judy Coughlin was well known in the Tri-State area, as well as the NFL community as a whole, for her philanthropic work through the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund, which provides comprehensive financial, emotional, and practical support to families affected by childhood cancer.
The fund was established in memory of Jay McGillis, a safety on Coughlin's Boston College teams who died of leukemia at just 21 years old.
In 2020 Mrs. Coughlin was diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy a incurable brain disorder. As has been reported by other sources, Tom Coughlin became her caregiver in recent years.
