Jets Finish One-Yard Short vs. Vikings

The Jets were oh, so close to pulling it out. Having trailed the Minnesota Vikings 20-3 at the half, Gang Green stormed back, and had multiple opportunities to steal the game away from the Vikings, but just couldn't get the big play when it needed to. In fact, they had it in their grasp, literally, and couldn't pull it in.

Mike White guided the Jets on an improbable, possible scoring drive late in the fourth quarter, where he took a shot on third and ten at the Vikings' 47, only to get himself off the turf, and hit Corey Davis on a 31-yard strike on fourth down to move the ball to the Vikings 7. Down 27-22, it looked like Gang Green was on their way to taking control.

The Jets got all the way to the Vikings one-yard, but couldn't plug it in. White and Garret Wilson miscommunication on a back-shoulder fade on third and goal that resulted in an in-completion. Then on fourth and goal, White hit Braxton Berrios in the end zone for what should have been the game-winning score, but the usually sure-handed receiver dropped the ball. The Jets lost their shot.

New York would get one last shot in the final seconds, but White was picked off with 10 seconds to go on a desperation pass.

The bitter finished concluded an afternoon of missed opportunities for the Jets. 


There were dropped passes galore. Elijah Moore would have had a first down earlier in the game, but stepped out of bounds. Garret Wilson had what would have been an amazing 60-yards catch-and-run touchdown, but stepped out of bounds at the 11; the Jets would settle for one of five field goals.

White's first interception came on a ball that bounced out of the hands of Tylor Conklin on the first series of the game.

Still Mike White put up gaudy numbers. He threw for 369 yards, and once again looked competent and cool leading the Jets offense. Even in defeat, there is no reason for the Jets to change now.

Garrett Wilson also had a huge day with 162 yards receiving as he inches closer to the club record for receiving yards by a rookie.

The Jets defense totally flustered a powerful Vikings offense. Kirk Cousins threw for 173 yards in the game, and Justin Jefferson was held to seven catches for 45-yards and a touchdown.

Francisco Lindor Remains Red Hot as Mets Top Phillies

 Francisco Lindor remains the hottest player in Queens right now.  The Mets shortstop blasted two more home runs, including a three-run blast in the bottom of the eighth inning, Monday night to help propel the Mets to a 5-4 win over Philadelphia.   Lindor who typically struggles in the month of April is putting together a heck of a month. Monday's two hit effort was the 10th game in the last 11 where Lindor has recorded a hit. In fact in the month of April alone this year, Lindor was hitting at .311 coming into Monday's action.  On the year, Lindor is batting .284 with five homers and 13 RBI.  Lindor's efforts proved to be prophetic, as the Phillies Alec Bohm crushed a three-run bomb off Edwin Diaz in the top of the ninth to cut the Mets lead to a single run. Fortunately for New York, Diaz was able to shut the door with strikeouts of Trea Turner and Bryce Harper.  New York (16-7) has now won five in a row.

Mets Keep Rolling into Phillies Series

 The New York Mets are feeling pretty good about things right now!  The Amazin's swept a four game series from the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday, winning 7-4 Sunday afternoon. It was the first time since 1986 that the Amazin's had swept such a series from St. Louis. We all know what happened later that season.    Well, not to get too far ahead of ourselves, because the 2025 version now faces a very stiff challenge. The Mets will face their arch rivals the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday with only two games separating the two teams in the NL East.  The Mets took out Philly in the NLDS last October, so this figures to be a heck of showdown. The Mets begin a month long stretch against teams that are likely postseason contenders like the Phillies, D-Backs, Cubs, Yankees, Red Sox, and Dodgers.  If the Mets (15-7) are this good, we will know for sure in a month.
