Knicks NBA Finals' Dream Comes to End in Game 6 of East Finals

And in the end it was just too much Tyrese Haliburton, and too much Indiana Pacers.  After winning Game 5 going away, the New York Knicks had really no answer for the Pacers in Game 6, as Indiana rolled to a 125-108 victory to solidify their place in the NBA Finals. The Pacers will face the Oklahoma City Thunder beginning Wednesday; it's Indy's first trip to the Big Dance since 2000.  As for the Knicks a long and very fascinating off-season awaits. (More on that in a moment).  The Knicks lost this game because they just couldn't keep up with the tempo of play the Pacers put on the court on Saturday. Indiana was on fire, especially in the second half, and gashed the Knicks defensively. In fact, Indiana outscored the Knicks 25-10 in fast break points, and held a 34-13 advantage in points off turnovers. Those stats alone lost the game for the Knicks.  Pascal Siakam was awesome, leading the Pacers with 31 points, while Tyrese Haliburton kicked it into second gear a...

Towns & Bench Rally Knicks in Heroic 20-point Comeback vs. Pacers

For almost an entire first half, the New York Knicks looked like dead-team walking. Then, like they did in Boston during the Eastern Conference Semifinals, New York put together an improbable 20-point comeback to stun the Pacers, the NBA, and everyone watching on Memorial Day eve to the tune of 106-100.  Karl Anthony Towns celebrates. Getty Images Suddenly a series that looked finished, is 2-1 Indiana. That doesn't mean the Knicks are back, and it certainly doesn't mean they are going to pull off the impossible and win this series, but at the very least, they have a pulse.  On a night where Jalen Brunson found himself in foul trouble with four-personal fouls in the first half, and had to spend large chunks of time in the second half on the bench, the Knicks got a virtuoso performance from its bench, and center Karl Anthony Towns. Towns, who has been at much maligned at times by the fan base was simply awesome on Sunday night. 20 of his 24 points came in the fourth quarter....

Knicks In Big Troulbe as Pacers Run Away with Game 2

The New York Knicks now find themselves in the untenable situation of being down 0-2 in the Eastern Conference Finals after a lackluster effort against Indiana produced a 114-109 loss in front of a mortified MSG crowd. Yes, Jalen Brunson led the way with 36 points for New York, but there is only so much one star player can do. The Indiana Pacers are deeper, have a bigger bench, and are better coached.  No better example in Game 2 than at the start of the fourth quarter when Knicks Head Coach Tom Thibodeau decided to sit both Brunson and OG Anunoby in a tied game, only to watch the Pacers go on a 13-4 run to grab their largest lead of the game, nine points, with 9:17 to go when Pascal Siakam drilled a 26-foot three pointer.  What a mess.  Sure when Brunson soon returned, he was able to lead the floor and single handidly, with an assist from Mikal Bridges brought the Knicks to within three at 97-94, but it wasn't enough.  The Pacers were just smarter and spread t...

Knicks "Choke" Away Game 1 in Historic Fashion to Pacers

PACERS 138 - KNICKS 135  It will forever go down as the Choke 2.0, and all Knicks fans can hope for is that when this best-of-seven Eastern Conference Finals is over, the results are similar to the original from 30-years ago.    The Knicks not only blew Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals to their rivals the Indiana Pacers, they did so in unforgettably historic fashion, watching a 17-point lead with 6:26 to go disappear into nothing. In fact, New York held a 14-point lead with 2:45 setting an NBA record where the Knicks became the first team in 994 attempts to blow such a large lead with so little time remaining.  Want an even more bizarre stat? The Knicks are the first team EVER to lose a game with a nine point lead with less than a minute to go. The record was 1434-0. Now its 1434-1.  Great job Knicks.    So when Tyrese Halliburton brought the ball up court, somehow managed to avoid a double-dribble foul, as he spun around to set up what he...

Knicks and Pacers Open East Finals tonight

Are you ready to get nuts? Well, die-in-the-wool Knicks fans are ready to once again run into the streets, party, scream obscenities on TikTok videos galore, and go generally bonkers for their New York Knicks tonight when Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals takes place at Madison Square Garden. It's been 25 long years since the Knicks last appeared in the Eastern Conference Finals. Back then it was the end of the Knicks' Patrick Ewing era. An era of many close calls, and no NBA Championships to speak of. But still, the Knicks of the 1990's were as good as any team in the NBA at that time. Standing in their way were Michael Jordan and Reggie Miller. Two all-time greats who routinely came into the Garden to suck the life out of Knicks fans. Those Knicks never got past Jordan's Chicago Bulls. The only time they did was the year Jordan briefly retired to play baseball in 1994. The Knicks got to the Finals that year, only to lose to Hakeem Olajuwon and the...

Yankees Outclass Soto and Mets in Subway Series

If one thing is certain after this weekend's first round of the Subway Series, it is this: The Yankees are just better than the Mets, at least right now. Taking full advantage of a Pete Alonso throwing error on a hit-and-run in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Yankees wound up posting a six-run rally to sting their cross-town rivals 8-2 on Sunday night, taking the rubber match of a three-game series. The capper, of course, came a couple of batters later in that eighth inning when Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger sent one to the seats in right field for a grand slam homer. Ironically, the only Met closest to that ball was ex-Yankee Juan Soto, who could only watch as the fans who taunted him all weekend showered themselves in Mets tears. For the Yankees, this was a statement series. At 27-19, the start to the 2025 season has been a rocky one for the Bronx Bombers, but they are in first place, and if one thing is clear, this weekend's Subway Series showed how deep t...

Knicks Destroy Celtics, Advance to Finals for First Time in 25 Years

It was the moment Knicks fans have been waiting for for over a quarter century. The New York Knicks are back in the Eastern Conference Finals!  What a long, strange and frustrating road it has been for the Knicks and their legions of loyal supporters.  From the infamous Isiah Thomas era, to one horrible draft pick after another. Antonio McDyess; Eddie Curry; the Carmelo Anthony's jealously over Linsanity; the inability of the Melo-led Knicks to get deep into the playoffs; Phil Jackson.  You name the person, the player, or even James Dolan himself, and Knicks fans just groan and roll their eyes in dismay and frustration.  But now those days are over.  The Knicks are the fever of New York. Fans poured into the streets in midtown Manhattan on Friday night, many of them durnk, many drunk on Knicks vibes; all of them feeling the same thing: utter joy that their is riding this high.  And it wasn't like Game 6 against the Boston Celtics was close at all; it ...

Jets & Giants face "Daunting" Schedules in 2025

Well, the NFL did the New York Jets and Giants no favors when it came to the schedule release on Wednesday.  My word. Let's start off with the Giants, who are coming off what many felt was a solid draft season last month, but the schedule Big Blue will see in 2025 is going to be, shall we say, difficult!  The G-men will face the league's toughest strength of schedule in 2025 at .574. They will play at least 11 games against playoff teams,  two of those games against the defending world champion Philadelphia Eagles, and two more against the NFC Champion runner ups, the Washington Commanders.   Obviously those two are in the division.  Add the Chiefs, Broncos, Packers, Lions, Chargers, Vikings, and the NFC Champs from two seasons ago, the San Francisco 49ers. It's going to be a very difficult schedule.  In fact, it wouldn't surprise if Big Blue doesn't find a win until Week 5 at New Orleans.  If Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen need wins this year ...

Jets Officially heading to London (Again)

The New York Jets will officially head back to London, England in 2025 when they serve as the 'host' team in Week 6. The Jets will face the Denver Broncos.  Give a lot of credit to the X-account NFL Nerd and OzzyNFL , because both have been pretty damn accurate when it comes to their leaks of the NFL schedule thus far.  Jets players walk off the field at Tottenham Stadium in London Getty Images.  They nailed the International Slate, every single one , and have been ahead of the game with the announcement of other contests like the season opener between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys.  We will know the full 272-game schedule come Wednesday, and chances are we will have the full Jets and Giants schedules well in advance of the primetime announcement on NFL Network.  As for the Jets game in London, it will be the second straight season the Jets play in the U.K. Last season the Jets lost a heartbreaker to the Vikings 23-17 that precipitated the fi...

Knicks Take Down Celtics, A Win Away from Conference Finals

The New York Knicks are a step away from the their first Eastern Conference Finals appearance in 25 years, and they can thank another second half comeback as Jalen Brunson and crew shot the lights out of MSG on Monday night in a thrilling 121-113 victory in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The Knicks lead the series 3-1. After a disheartening performance in front of a rabid MSG crowd on Saturday afternoon, the Knicks found themselves down by as many as 14-points after Derrick White hit a 23-foot three-point jumper with 9:06 to go in the third quarter. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 12: OG Anunoby #8 of the New York Knicks dunks the ball against the Boston Celtics. (Photo by Elsa/Getty Images) Would this series actually head to Boston tied at two? If it does, the Knicks would likely be toast. Certainly the media would have a field day. But then another miracle happened. The Knicks started knocking down shots, while the Celtics would miss timely shots that could have ...

The Comeback Part II: Knicks Stun Celtics and Boston Again with 20-Point Comeback

KNICKS 91 - CELTICS 90  So to all the doubters, what do you say now? Bill Simmons? Colin Cowherd? What do you say now?  After Monday's thrilling 108-105 Knicks comeback victory over Boston, many in the media tired to paint the game as an aberration, with Cowherd calling the victory "meaningless," and that New York wouldn't win another game again in this series.  Jalen Brunson with the dish. Getty Images. Well, apparently the Knicks didn't get that memo. If you didn't believe Monday night, you better start believing now.  The Knicks once again stormed back from a 20-point third quarter deficit to shock the Boston Celtics 91-90 at TD Bank Garden to take a 2-0 series lead.  If New York Knicks fans weren't already hysterical over the Game 1 comeback, they will be off the wall all day on Thursday.   The reason the Knicks find themselves here is because they just don't know how to accept defeat. They keep fighting, and turned Game 2 into a street braw...

Knicks Stun Boston with 20-Point Comeback in Game 1

KNICKS 108 - CELTICS 105  The New York Knicks are off and running in the Eastern Conference Semifinals after a thrilling, come-from-behind 108-105 overtime victory over the Boston Celtics, and the excitement in New York is palpable. New York trailed by as many as 20 points in the third quarter, before OG Anunoby, Josh Hart, and Jalen Brunson started knocking down shots to bring the Knicks back to within nine points by the end of the quarter. OG Anunoby with the slam dunk in Boston. Getty Images. By the fourth quarter, the Knicks turned the intensity up a notch. Miles McBride drilled a 23-foot jumper,r and Karl Anthony-Towns nailed a bucket to cut the deficit down to four points. You could feel the Boston Crowd at the TD Garden starting to get a little nervous. After Jayson Tatum missed a step-back jumper that would have shut down the Knicks' momentum, Anunoby pressed the pedal to the metal when he knocked down a three-pointer from the far corner to cut the deficit to a single...

Brunson's Clutch Shot Sends Knicks Past Pistons

KNICKS 116 - PISTONS 113  (NYK Win series 4-2)  There is a reason why Jalen Brunson is the Knicks captain. Call him Captain Clutch. The Ice Man. Whatever you want! But one thing is for sure, when it mattered the most, with everything falling apart around him, and with Knicks fans ready to throw their hands up in disgust over potentially blowing Game 6 of the opening round of the playoffs, Brunson put everyone on his back. Knicks' Jalen Brunson after his game winner. Getty Images With 5.1 seconds to go, Brunson stepped up, made a defender miss, found a lane, and drilled the game winning three-pointer to lift the Knicks 116-113 over the Detroit Pistons in the Motor City. T The Knicks move on to face the Boston Celtics in the East Quarterfinals, which begin on Monday, May 5. Every kid who puts on sneakers and grabs a basketball dreams of their "Michael Jordan" moment, the kind of moment like in the '98 Finals when Jordan faked a defender and drilled the ...
