The New York Mets broke out of their disturbingly long seven-game skid Saturday night with a barrage of homers, two of them from slugger Juan Soto in a much needed 11-4 laugher in Philadelphia.
On a night where the worlds attention were on bombs of a military kind, Saturday night, the Mets finally flexed how explosive their offense can be.

For Soto it was his biggest night in a Mets uniform. Four hits in five trips to the plate, two homers and four RBI. A player many were scuffing was disinterested over a month ago, has been on fire this month, and was the main reason behind the Mets sudden one-night resurgence.
But Soto wasn't alone. Brandon Nimmo and Francisco Lindor were more than happy to join the party.
Nimmo's first inning homer off Mick Abel gave New York an early 1-0 lead and was a precursor of things to come.
With New York trailing 3-1 after Griffin Canning coughed up the lead in the bottom half of the first inning, Nimmo, Lindor and Soto launched back-to-back-to-back bombs to stun the Philadelphia crowd, while lighting up Mets fans up and down I-95.
The fireworks weren't over yet. Two innings later Soto crushed a pitch into the second deck of right field to give New York a 5-3 lead in the fifth inning.
Jared Young and much maligned catcher Francisco Alvarez also homered in the late stages as New York pulled away.
The Mets who looked destined for an epic collapse (which could still happen, especially with this pitching staff), are tied once again with Philadelphia for first in the NL East, and lead the ever-important head-to-head series 4-1.
