Giants running back Cam Sktattebo will miss the remainder of the 2025 season after suffering a gruesome dislocated ankle injury in Sunday's 38-20 loss at the Philadelphia Eagles.
On Monday afternoon, Head Coach Brian Daboll confirmed Skattebo's surgery went well, and is on the road to recovery.
The Giants rookie tailback spent the night in Philadelphia for emergency surgery because it involved a "open dislocation," according to ESPN.He was discharged on Monday.
Skattebo posted to social media:
"Surgery went well. I just want to thank the city of Philly for taking the best care of me. Every moment I spent in the hospital with family and friends I felt loved and supported in every way ... thank you to the doctors, surgeons, and staff that did their best work on me. This is just the beginning of my journey and I can't wait to show you guys all about it!!! GOD has a plan for me , stick the course and it will all work itself out , BRB."
Obviously he will miss the rest of this season, and there is no timetable for his return.
The injury which happened quickly when the he caught a pass from his buddy, quarterback Jaxson Dart, was spun around on the tackle and twisted his ankle. He tired to get up, and that is when everyone saw his foot perpendicular to the rest of his leg.
It's a damn shame to see Skattebo go down like this. He was a spark-plug for the Giants this year, rushing for 410 yards and five touchdowns on 101 carries. But beyond the stats, the swagger he brought to the game was refreshing. It was just a couple weeks ago that he and Jaxson Dart put on a show against the Eagles on a Thursday night.
It felt like the Giants were on their way back.
The Giants (2-6) are now down two of their top play-makers in Skattebo, and wide receiver Malik Nabers, who was lost for the year in Week 3.
New York will host San Francisco on Sunday.
