Even as the excitement settled on Friday afternoon from the Giants 34-17 victory over the defending Super Bowl Champion Eagles on Thursday night, the NFL and NFL Players Association are actively, looking into whether the Giants and Head Coach Brian Daboll broke protocol with regards to the health of quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Dart left the game briefly in the third quarter after taking a huge hit with trying to plow through a linebacker. It was not a smart move initially by the quarterback, who sat on the ground for a few minutes, before popping up and running to the blue tent to check for a concussion.
It was the second time in three weeks this has happened with Dart, who hasn't learned to slide yet.
As the Giants started to struggle for a couple plays with Russell Wilson under center, Daboll could be seen following Dart and the doctors into the tent. Moments later Daboll was scene exchanging words with the team doctor, Dr. Scott Rodeo, and let's just say Daboll was pretty animated.
If the GIants abused the NFL's concussion protocol, they and Coach Daboll could face a heavy penalty.
Daboll said Friday he hadn't heard from the league office.
"I'll say this, like I said last night, I went in, didn't actually go in, just stuck my head in to see how our quarterback was doing. Just asked him, 'How you doing?'" Daboll said during a Zoom call Friday afternoon. "In no way would I want a player to come back out there that wasn't ready to play. I think I have great respect for that process."
The Giants return to practice on Monday, when preparations begin for the Denver Broncos who are in London tomorrow to face the Jets.
