Talk about turning up the heat. About the only good news for the New York Yankees right now is the fact that they hit the road tonight for Tampa Bay, therefore they will be sparred from having to hear the litany of screaming Yankees fans on the talk radio and podcast circuit.
Then again, Florida is like New York South ...
The Yankees dropped another series, this time to the Minnesota Twins by the score of 6-1. That's right, I said the Minnesota Twins; the same franchise the Yankees have dominated routinely over the past quarter century plus.

If that was an omen of things to come in '23, one would hate to see what's in the cards now.
The Twins simply dominated the Yankees behind a stellar outing by Joe Ryan. The 30-year old veteran pitcher who ironically was on the Mets radar this past off-season, held the Yankees scoreless on just three hits, while striking out nine over seven innings of work.
The Yankees, who have been hamstrung offensively with injuries to Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge, managed only five hits on the afternoon, with only Trent Grishom recording a double.
New York was a paltry 1-of-3 with RISP. That's terrible, and it shows they have no ability to take the extra base and move runners along.
The loss comes off the heels of Saturday's 11-4 loss where Kody Clemens and Josh Bell exploded offensively as the Twins pounded out six homers in victory. That was the game Carlos Rodon was expected to pitch in, but was unavailable after landing on the injury list with elbow inflammation.
The loss means New York has now lost nine of its last 10 games. They went 1-5 against the Twins and Tigers this week, two teams they were expected to beat.
And now New York will go back into the A.L. East starting on Monday when they face the Rays in the first of four games at the Trop. The Yankees are 14-14 in the division this year, while Tampa is a scalding 17-6.
Things are not looking good. What will help this team at this point? A lineup change? Maybe. Aaron Boone and Brian Cashman need to shake things up because the Yankees are losing ground to Tampa, and are seeing the sub .500 teams in the AL start to believe that they can catch up in the wild card race.
The Yankees are only three games ahead of the Cleveland Guardians in the loss column for the top Wild Card. The Texas Rangers, Houston Astros, Toronto Blue Jays, and Baltimore Orioles are not that far behind either.
