Odell Beckham Jr. Officially Back with his No. 13 Jersey

Odell Beckham Jr. is writing one heck of a redemption story right now with the New York Giants. 

The star wide receiver made famous by his ridiculous one-handed catch against the Cowboys in 2014, only to see his star in New York fade quickly due to poor on field behavior, has returned some eight years later as a man on a mission. 

Beckham earned his way onto the John Harbaugh's first 53-man roster as Head Coach of the New York Giants, hauling in 13 passes for 76-yards. Beckham said he was brought to tears when he was told by Harbaugh that he had made the team. 

"I’m going to be here and I have an opportunity to rewrite some of the last bit of the chapter,” Beckham said after practice Monday. “Don’t know [if it’s my] last year, whatever it is, I just know I’m going to give my all"

It's been a long time coming for OBJ. He even looks like a changed man. Gone are his dyed curles of blonde hair, instead he sports a buzz cut, and a nearly full beard that has little patches of grey coming in on the chin. At 33-years old, he looks leaner. 

To say he's been to hell and back would be the ultimate understatement.  He was a budding superstar in New York more than a decade ago. His name was right up there as one of the brightest and greatest athlete's New York had to offer in any sport. 

In his first three seasons from 2014-16, Beckham was a three-time Pro Bowler, hauling three-straight 1,300 yard seasons, and double digits in touchdowns in each of those seasons. 

However things went south fast in 2017. Maybe it started the night following a playoff loss to capstone the 2016 season when he slammed his fist through a wall in the visiting locker room that really spelled the beginning of the end for Beckham in New York at the time. 

By the end of the 2018 season he was dealt to Cleveland. It was the beginning of a long journey and humbling that saw Beckham with three other teams (the Rams, Ravens and Dolphins). With the Ravens in 2024 he showed signs of his old self, catching 35 passes for 565 yards and three scores. John Harbaugh took notice then when he was Ravens head coach, and decided to bring him home to New York. 

Not only does Beckham return to the roster, he gets his old number 13 back. All off-season and training camp he wore the number 3 as Jailin Hyatt wore 13. Hyatt didn't make the team, but the practice squad instead. So 13 became available and Beckham was re-united with the number on Tuesday. 

Welcome home OBJ. It's been a long time coming...

Same Ol' Jets! Gang Green Dropped by Ravens

 RAVENS 24 - JETS 9  In short the opener to the 2022 season for the New York Jets was a complete and utter disaster.  A team that came into the season with the promise of better days ahead, a team that had taken on so many kudos in the off-season for what so many in the media had claimed was an impeccable off-season and draft, came out flat as a pancake when it mattered the most.  If this was a debut of what is to come for the Jets in 2022, you better start preparing your 2023 draft boards.  Sunday's 24-9 loss wasn't just a defeat at the hands of a better team, it was a total indictment of the Jets current predicament.  The Jets offensive line, which has been battered and beaten this summer with the losses of Meckhi Becton and Duane Brown looked like a sieve on Sunday. Jets, Dolphins and Patriots Playoff Breakdown

Here are the formuli that could get the Jets into and out of the playoff party this season: 1) If the Jets win against Seattle and Miami, they win the AFC East based on a better conference record (8-4) than the New England Patriots, even if New England wins out as well. 2) If the Patriots win out and the Dolphins win out and finish at 11-5, the Jets would be 10-6, or 9-7, and probably out of the playoffs. Both New England and Miami would make the playoffs, with the Dolphins as a divison winner and the Patriots as a wild card. The Patriots make the postseason if Baltimore loses one of its final two games. 3) If the Patriots win out and the Dolphins and Jets split, then the Patriots win the AFC East.
