Yankees 6 White Sox 4 Another night, another Jeterian moment. Derek Jeter went 3-for-4 with four RBI and a homer, as the Yankees erased a 4-0 deficit from the first inning. Andy Pettitte, was not at his best. In the first inning, Pettitte gave up singles to Alexei Ramirez and Gordon Beckham, before giving up a three-run homer to Paul Kornerko, as the White Sox took a 3-0 lead. But, the Yankees came back. Alex Rodriguez's single brought home Jeter with the Yankees first run. Robinson Cano followed with an RBI single to cut the deficit to one run, 3-2. With Brett Gardner on in the fifth the Yankee tied it, when Jeter blasted a two run shot to left. The homer was Jeter's fourth of the year. Pettitte settled down after the first to give up only one run in his next five innings of work. Pettitte struck out three and got a no-decision. His ERA rose to 2.12. METS 9 PHILLIES 1 The Mets express keeps on rolling. Winners of eight in a row, the Mets have completely turned their season around after a dreadful 3-7 start to April that saw the Mets languish in last place in the NL East. After a 9-1 home-stand last week, and a victory in Philadelphia tonight, the Mets are now a game and a half ahead of the Phillies and Nationals for first place in the NL East. That's right the Mets are in first place!!! Jon Niese was spectaular for the Mets, striking out seven Phillies, and surrendering only four hits. Niese's curveball dazzled all night, buckling the Phillies hitters at the knees; it was Niese's best performance of his young career. Offensively the Mets brought out the thunder. In the second inning after a Jason Bay double, David Wright blasted a two run shot to left center to give the Mets a 2-0 lead. Ben Roethlisberger 's days with the Pittsburgh Steelers may be numbered. After the huge black eye that has become a sexual abuse case that Roethlisberger was presumably involved in over a month ago, the quarterback has been suspended by the NFL for the first six games of the 2010 regular season. That puts a huge crimp in the Steelers season plans. Even though Roethlisberger has won two Super Bowl titles in Pittsburgh, the Steelers are more than willing to trade him. According to the NFL Network, the Steelers were rejected by the Rams, but, are instead in negotiations with the Raiders. What else is new? The Raiders are synonymous with acquiring guys with bad reputations. The Steelers want to move up in the draft where they would look to take either Jimmy Clausen or Tim Tebow. Tebow is more of the patron Saint that Pittsburgh needs. Tebow is very religious, and the distinction as a good kid. Get the BBQ ready because football is coming to the new Meadowlands Stadium this fall. The schedules for the Giants and Jets have been announced. The Giants will officially open the new ball park in week 1 against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday September 12 at 1:00 on FOX. The Giants will visit the Colts in week 2 on a Sunday night, marking the second ever match-up between Eli and Peyton Manning. The Jets will also open the new building in week 1, on Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens September 13 at 7:00 on ESPN. The Jets play five prime time games, including a Sunday night game at Miami in week three, and Monday night games against Minnesota in week 5 and at New England in December. The Jets will host the Bengals on Thanksgiving night. The most vilified Miami Dolphin since Dan Marino, in the eyes of Jets fans, is now a member of Gang Green. Jason Taylor has singed a two-year $13 million deal with the Jets according to WFAN. Taylor had seven sacks last year with the Dolphins. Taylor has made a career of hating the Jets and their fans, stating that the Jet fans take the "CL" out of class, and promising to never play for the Jets. Well, now he is a Jet. Taylor is 36 years old , so there is reasonable questions as to how he will perform this year. In 2008, with the Redskins he had only 3.5 sacks. Rex Ryan, as usual, guarenteed that Taylor would rack up 12 sacks in his vaunted 46 defense. We shall see. Now Taylor has to make nice with Jets nation, which is not exactly crazy about the ex-Fish joining their squad.

The NFL schedules will be announced in less than four hours, and already the league has let out news as to one game for the upcoming season. The Minnesota Vikings will head back to New Orleans to play the world champion Saints on the Thursday night opener at 8:30 in September. The Saints beat the Vikings in the NFC title game in January 31-28, a game that the Vikings clearly outplayed the Saints in. Will Brett Favre be there? Favre was beaten up by the Saints in the last meeting, and has yet to announce either his third retirement or his third reinstatement into the league. This game will be about Favre, until he decides what to do. In the meantime the Saints will begin their quest for a repeat title. The Jets and Giants will release their schedules before 7pm.

METS 6 CUBS 1 Meet the new Met. Ike Davis that is. Davis, the highly touted first base prospect in the Mets minor league system, finally made his major league debut, Monday, when the Mets beat the Cubs 6-1 at Citi Field. The Mets have struggled to find a replacement for Carlos Delgado since last season. They tried Dan Murphy who was underwhelming at the position. Murphy was scheduled to be the Mets opening day first baseman this season, until he injured his knee late in spring training. Murphy has yet to rehab the knee. In his stead, were equally underwhelming Mike Jacobs, who the team released Sunday night, and Fernando Tatis. Neither player grabbed a hold at first, so the Mets had little choice but to call up the 23-year-old Davis, who was tearing the cover off the ball in triple-A. Davis went 2-for-4 with a RBI single in the seventh inning to propel the Mets to victory. If he keeps it up, Murphy will have to look for work elsewhere.
