Alou Out for the Season

Major bust Mosies Alou is now offically out for the season with a torn right hamstring. The annoucement was made by Omar Minaya three minutes ago at 4:39 pm.

The Mets will now have to explore deals to get someone here who can stay healthy, and provide a right handed bat in the lineup. Possibilities include Alex Rios of Toronto, Xavier Nady or Jason Bay of Pittsburgh and Matt Holliday of Colorado. (Granted if their respective teams put them on the market). Another name out there that the Mets seem to be considering is (gulp) Barry Bonds!

Alou has been a total bust since joining the Mets. He spent most of his first year here in 2007 on the DL, and only played nine games this season with three different stints on the DL. The Mets were stupid to re-sign the guy in January of 2008, and are forced to regret it now.
