Manny May Come to NL East

Bad news Met fans. :( Not only is your team doing nothing to improve itself at the trade deadline, making the stupid argument that injury prone Fernando Martinez is an untouchable commodity, the Phillies or Marlins could land unhappy Manny Ramirez before tomorrow's deadline.

In a story by Ian Browne on MLB.com, there is a strong possiblity that Manny Ramriez could end up in Florida. The Red Sox would want eitehr Jeremy Hermida or Josh Willingham in the deal, and the Sox would have to give some cash to the Marlins to pay off Ramirez.

The Phillies were also rumored to be interested, and they would send Pat Burrell to Boston in exchange for Manny.

I think the Philly deal is the best deal for Boston. Burrell, while not Manny, still has 30 homerun power, and has been Philadelphia's most consistent hitter the last two seasons, outside of Chase Utley.

The Red Sox are fed up with Manny, after pushing around a staff member of the Red Sox clubhouse, and raising a roucus about his contract status - feeling that he is being screwed over, and faking a knee injury to show his displeasure as a protest. Rameriez has a team option for 2009, but it probably won't be picked after the season - so Manny is in his final days as a Red Sox for sure. This should make Yankee fans quite happy!!!:)
