METS 7
GIANTS 0
If you don't believe in miricales you better start, becasuse something special is starting to simmer in Queens N.Y.
The Mets beatup San Francisco Giants' ace Tim Lincecum 7-0 in a Tuesday night matchup at Shea Stadium in Queens. The win is the Mets fourth in a row, which is their longest winning streak since a five game winning streak back on April 15-19. It was also their first shutout victory since a 6-0 rout of the Washington Nationals back on April 15.
The Mets got it going early when Endy Chavez singled and David Wright walked. Carlos Beltran then blasted a three run shot into the Mets bullpen in right field. 3-0 Metropolitans.
Mike Pelfrey continues his brilliance, working seven shutout innings for the win. He is now 7-6 on the year, and his ERA dropped below four to 3.95. He is really starting to become the ace of the staff.
The fireworks weren't over. Carlos Delgado hit a solo shot deep to center field off of Lincecum, and Fernado Tatis added a two run shot for good measure in the seventh.
The Mets are 46-44 and are only a game and a half out of first place in the NL East.
