Yankees Skid Hits Three

RANGERS 3
YANKEES 2

All of a sudden it is not easy being a Yankee! For the thrid straight game and fourth time in their last six games, the Yankees lose.

Joba Chamberlin struggled throughout, going only four innings, and throwing 91 pitches. He just did not have the zip on the ball that he did in Pittsburgh. The Rangers put Chamberlin and the Bombers in a hole early when Chris Davis singled to center to bring home David Murphy, this was followed by a single by catcher Jarod Saltalamacchia to bring home Marlon Byrd from third.

The Yankees tried to rally in the fourth when Robinson Cano singled in Jason Giambi and moved Jorge Posada to second. The Yankees appeared to be in business against Kevin Millwood, but the veteran righty beared down and got Wilson Betemit to strike out and Melky Cabrera to fly out to the outfield.

The Yankees tied it in the sixth on three straight hits from Posada, Cano and Betemit off of reliever Josh Rupe, but Cabreara popped out to prevent the Yankees from adding on.

Mariano Rivera came in to the game tied in the ninth, and was not Mariano, surrendering the game winning run.

Ian Kinsler, who is having a fantastic season at second for Texas, led off with a doulbe to left. Kinsler than stole third while the Yankees were sleeping defensivly. Finally Michael Young drove in Kinsler with a shot up the middle; 3-2 Texas.

The Yankees had a chance to do something in the bottom of the inning with Betemit on first and no one out, everyone and their mother knew that Derek Jeter was looming in the dugout after taking the night off. However, Cabreara grounded into a double play that all but ended any hopes of a Yankee comeback. Johnny Damon preceeded to finish it off with a ground out to first.

BOXSCORE. The Yankees are now Seven Games behind the Devil Rays for first place in the AL East.
