It's over folks. The 17 year marriage between the Green Bay Packers and Brett Favre is now over forever. If the two sides ever meet again, it will be when Favre is older and truly done with football when his jersey is retired.
In the meantime, the relationship between Favre and the Packers is ripped apart into shreds and is beyond repair. According to Coach Mike McCarthy in an highly anticipated press conference, the coach said that "Favre couldn’t seem to get past emotional wounds that were opened as tensions mounted in recent weeks" (Jenkins).
In other words, even though Favre was somewhat open to the idea of competeing for his starting job, he understands that it would create such tension that it would be heavier and thicker than smog in China! Favre felt that there were damages beyond repair between the two sides, and that it would be difficult for him and the team to move on and cope with it.
Favre was seen in his burgendy colored jeep leaving the parking lot around 2:40 ET, 1:40 Green Bay time, which was some 15 minutes before practice.
There are prevailing rumors still that Favre wants to go to Minnesota, but he is now, suddenly, open to a possible trade to Tampa Bay. He doesn't want to go to the Jets; he wants no part of New York. Umm, maybe someone should tell Favre that the Jets practice in Morris County New Jersey, and play in Bergen County New Jersey.
Oh well, Favre is no longer a Packer and it will proabably be days before something could be done for real, but considering how long this situation has dragged on and on and on, don't be surprised if Favre isn't traded until September.
