Santana Leads Angles Past Yankees

ANGELS 1
YANKEES 0

The Yankees just don't have it when it comes to playing the L.A. Angles of Anaheim. When Sidney Ponson, of all people, shut down the Angels for seven innings, one would think that the Yankees could find a way to win. Umm... I don't think so.

In the ninth inning the Angles finally broke through, this time off of Mariano Rivera, as Tori Hunter continues to have a huge series driving home pinch runner Reggie Willits from third base to make it 1-0 Angles.

That was all Anahiem needed. Ervin Santana was brilliant, going eight unbelievable innings, shutting out the potent Yankee lineup for eight innings. He struck out eight, and surrendered only five hits for the game. Santana got the win, and is now 12-5 on the year.

K-Rod, Franisco Rodriguez came and shut down the Yankees in order in the ninth to ice it for the Angles.

Anaheim is now a MLB best 69-40 on the year.
