Manuel & Mets Agree To Terms

In a breaking stroy from Sports Illustrated and SNY's Jon Heyman, the Mets and Jerry Manuel have agreed to a two year contract extension with the option for a third year.

The contract will run through the 2011 season.

Manuel was 55-38 since taking over for Willie Randolph on June 17. The re-hiring of Manuel ends speculation from this morning that Bobby Valentine was planning to return to the Mets dugout.

Terms of the contract, as far as dollars are concerned, have yet to be released.
