Change Is Not On The Way For Mets

Don't expect big changes to happen to the Mets this month. With the non-waiver trade deadline just four weeks away, Mets GM Omar Minaya emphasized that it will be very hard for him to make a deal.

"I am not going find a short stop better than Jose Reyes," Minaya told reports as an example before tonight's 8-0 debacle against the L.A. Dodgers.

Reyes returned to New York today to get another cortisone shot in his right leg, which is still giving the former All Star severe pain. As for Carlos Beltran, he is still recovering from a bone bruise in his right knee, and will need to rehabilitate the knee before he ever comes close to returning to Flushing.  Read Report

In short, it could be a long, long, long time before the these players ever return to the Mets. This leaves Minaya with a huge deliemma, go out and trade his top prospects for players that are on equal level, or not as good as the Reyes' Beltran's and Delgado's of the world, or just stand pact and look to fix this team during the holiday season this fall.

" I have to keep an eye not only on '09, but on '10, '11, and '12." Minaya said on Tuesday.
