DODGERS 8
METS 0
The dark life of being a New York Met, or anyone who is associated with the New York Mets continues to get uglier by the minute.
Tonight, the L.A. Dodgers went through the Mets like a knife through butter. 8-0 was the final tally, as the Mets offense continued its inept play at the plate, while another Mets starter labored when his team needed him most.
In the third inning, the Dodgers started to tattoo Mike Pelfrey. With the bases loaded, Orlando Hudson drew a walk to bring home Russell Martin for the games first run. Minutes later, Manny Ramirez broke out of a 1 for 7 slump by lacing a single up the middle to drive in Matt Kemp and Rafeal Furcal to make it 3-0.
The final straw for Pelfrey came in the fifth, when Hudson doubled to left to drive in Furcal and Ramirez singled to center to drive home a charging Hudson to make it 5-0. Box Score.
Blake DeWitt would add a home run, and Casey Blake would add another run with a sacrifice fly to put the punchless Mets away for good. The Mets are playing lackadaisical baseball, without seemingly little worry. The quicksand is now starting to reach the necks of the Mets. Time is clearly of the essence.
