The Yankees starting pitching problems are not getting any better. Not after Domingo German got lit up by the light-hitting New York Mets on Friday. German lasted only 3.2 innings , allowing four runs on five hits before Aaron Boone pulled him for a bullpen by committee for the rest of the night. German failed to go more than four innings in five of his last six outings for Bombers, and has now been optioned to Triple-A Scranton Wilkes Barre. The Yankees have called up Luis Cessa, who is not much better. Cessa owns only five wins and a ERA of 4.30. If the Yankees want to get serious this season, if they believe that this team can win a World Series this year, they need to suck it up and trade for a starting pitcher. The club has been linked to Jacob deGrom, J.A. Happ and Cole Hamels for a month. So much for the return of Yoenis Cespedes.  After the Mets 7-5 win over the Yankees on Friday, Cespedes revealed disturbing information when he told reporters that the cause of the health issues is calcification in both heels. The only way to fix the issue would be to have surgery, which would require a recovery time of 8 to 10 months. Cespedes even told reporters he wasn’t sure if he could finish the season. What makes matters worse is that manager Mickey Callaway claimed Saturday that he was the last to know about the injury. “That’s concerning,” Callaway said ,  via MLB.com . “I feel bad for the guy. He has worked so hard. If you see the stuff he has to go through to get back — he worked so hard this winter. We talked about everything that he tried to do to put himself in a good spot to come out and be healthy for the team. I feel for the guy because he’s done everything he possibly can to stay healthy. The New York Mets are sending closer Jeurys Familia to the Oakland A's. Although the deal is not officially complete. The players coming back to the Mets we still do not know. Speculation started to mount when the Mets decided not to put Familia into tonight's game against the Yankees by design. The Mets held a 7-5 lead and left Robert Gsellman in to finish the game, which he did. Familia never picked up a baseball, except for the one he was playing with on the bench. Tim Peterson was the only reliever warming up to back up Gsellman in the ninth. By the end of the game, both Andy Martino and Buster Olney were reporting that the Mets were working on a deal with the Athletics that would send Familia to the Bay Area. METS 7 - YANKEES 5  It was a night of close calls as the Mets held off a series of Yankee rallies to beat their cross-town rivals 7-5 in the Bronx on Friday night, but when the game ended that wasn’t the only story. A night that began with Yoenis Cespedes return to the lineup, ended with increased speculation that the Mets were close to trading closer Jeurys Familia, who did not pitch the ninth inning. As it turned out Familia was dealt to the Oakland A’s, who are competing for a wild card berth in the American League.  Before the trade talk picked up, the Mets built a 6-1 lead on the Bronx Bombers in the early frames. The Amazin’s wasted no time, tagging Yankees starter Domingo German with three runs in the opening frame. Asdrubal Cabrera kicked things off with a RBI double to drive in Brandon Nimmo to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. Yoenis Cepsedes is set to make his return to the Mets lineup for the first time since mid-May when the Mets limp into Yankee Stadium to begin the second half of the season tonight.   While the 2018 season is a lost cause as far as playoffs are concerned, the Mets are hoping that Cespedes can ignite an offense that is near the bottom in many important statistical categories. The last time Cespedes played in a game, the Mets were a game over .500 after a 4-2 loss to the Phillies on May 13. New York has gone 20-37 since, highlighted by a franchise worst June where the club won only six games. Cespedes was hitting .255 with eight homers and 28 RBI before he hit the disabled list with a hip flexor strain and a quad injury that kept him out for more than half the season. Van Wagenen dropped an ultimatum at the lap of the Mets front office when he told Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal that his client wants a long term deal, or, the franchise should consider trading deGrom this season. “ We have discussed Jacob’s future with the Mets at length.
