BREAKING NEWS: Harden Traded To Cubs

In response to the Milwaukee Brewers aquisition of C.C. Sabathia, the first place Chicago Cubs got right to work and got a deal done with the Oakland Athletics to aquire ace Rich Harden.

Harden is 5-1 this season with a 2.34 ERA for the 47-41 A's, who are in the thick of the AL Wild Card race. Perhaps, A's GM Billy Bean realizes that his team has overachieved this year, and will likely fall apart after the All Star Break.

In order to get Harden the Cubs traded Matt Murton, Eric Patterson, and Sean Gallagher to Oakland.

The Cubs also got Chad Gaudin, who went 5-3 with a 3.59 ERA in 26 games and six starts. So the Cubs are stacked now in the pitching department.
It is going to be interesting to see how the Cubs and Brewers do down the stretch with these new pitchers, and to see what kind of response the Cardinals make, who are also in the thick of the NL Central and NL Wild Card races.
