Lucky Seven for Mets

METS 2
ROCKIES 1
The Mets played a really tight game tonight, walking a tightrope seemingly all night, until Damion Easley hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Mets a 2-1 lead.
Even though Easley is the hero for the night, the credit should go to the Mets bullpen, which was fantastic tonight. In the seventh inning with the score tied at one, Oliver Perez walked Jeff Baker and gave up a single to Brad Hawpe, Aaron Heilman had to come in with no one out.
Heilman procceeded to get into a bigger jam. First Jason Nix sacrified the runners over, and then seth Smith walked on five pitches. It was here that Heilman pulled a Hudine Act, striking out Willy Tavares and Clint Barmes to end the inning and leave the runners on base.
In eighth, Duaner Sanchez got into trouble, giving up a single and a walk. Perdo Feliciano came in with two out and walked another batter to load them up once again. Felicano somehow got Nix to ground out to Delgado to end the inning to end the threat.
This set the stage for Easley's heroics in the eighth. The win is the Mets seventh in a row and they remain a game and a half out of first place.
