Mets Match Longest Winning Streak of the Year

METS 5
GIANTS 0

The Mets have done it again, they continue to stay red hot in their pursuit of first place in the NL East, with another dominating performance against the lowly San Francisco Giants.

Johan Santana got the start, and he was fantastic, shutting out the G-Men over five innings, giving up only three hits.

The game was scoreless going into the fourth, until Ramon Castro blasted a three run homer into the left field pinic bleachers to give the Mets a 3-0 lead.

That was all Santana and the Mets needed, as rain came and interupted the contest for 30 minutes.

Aaron Heilman came in place of Santana in the sixth and he was brilliant; pitching two shutout innings, giving up no hits, and striking out two. It was his best inning of the year.

The Mets added on in the eighth as Angenis Reyes (NO RELATION TO JOSE) drove in a red hot Carlos Delgado to make it 4-0. Later Jose Reyes drove in Angensi to make it 5-0.

The win matches the Mets longest winnings streak of the year from mid-April. The Mets will go for the sweep tomorrow with John Maine on the mound.
