Maybe everyone should rethink about buying Rays playoff tickets? Just a hunch, considering that they are on a three game skid and got exposed by the Bronx Bombers this week.
The Yankees and Rays got into a great pitching duel, as the Yanks won the game in the bottom of the 10th with a Bobby Abreu double to drive home Derek Jeter, who led off the inning with a single.
Mariano Rivera got the win, as he continues to pitch extremly well. Rivera pitched two innnings of relief, walking one and fanning four Rays. Rivera is now 4-3 on the year with a 1.06 ERA.
Sidney Ponson got the start, and he continues to impress, going six strong innings giving up only one run. Conor Jackson got the start for Tampa, and was equally effective, going six and a third giving up only a run on six hits.
The win, means that the Yankees swept a short two game series from the Rays, and prove that they will be around for the long haul. Now the only question is, can the Rays take the pressure that the Yankees, and Red Sox, who blew out Minnesota today, put on them.
