In a story that was broken by ESPN's Ed Werner, Favre has finally been reinstated by Commissoner Roger Goodell, and will head back to Green Bay to be apart of Packers camp. To make things even more interesting, Favre could land by the time Green Bay holds its family night practice at Lambeau Field. A capacity crowd of over 60,000 is expeceted at the event; wouldn't be funny if number 4 shows up?!
Now it is time for the Packers to make a decision. They can either keep Favre on the team as the 'backup' quaterback and face a year of controversy. Or they can try to trade him again to the Jets and Bucs, both teams who by now must be losing interest, and of course Favre has refused to go to either or even talk to either franchise.
Or the Packers could just release Favre and let him walk to Minnesota.
The choice is there's to make, and here is another prediction. I always suspected that Favre would never leave the Packers, and would ultimately play for them in 2008. My new prediction is this: the Packers will continue to be stuburn and leave Aaron Rodgers as the starter into the regular season. The Packer will get off to a woeful 1-3 or 0-4 start, and then, only then will Mike McCarthy pull the trigger and start Favre, in hopes he can save a season that might already be lost.
