Turn of Events: Mets Closing In On K-Rod

Hours after the Mets low-balled closer Francisco Rodriguez with a insulting two year $25 million deal, the Metropolitans came back with a slightly better offer.

Three years, $37 million dollars is expected to be the Mets final offer, SNY and WFAN insider Jon Heyman reported early this morning. The deal could get done within 24 hours.

Rodriguez initally wanted a five year $75 million deal, but no other team has shown interest in the closer except the Mets. Perhaps the asking price is too steep for most clubs during tough economic times in the United States.
