In the second part of an interview with Fox's Greta Van Sustrean, Brett Favre says he is tempted to show up at Packers training camp as a way to call the Packers bluff and make them look really stupid. This time with Favre staring in the role of Owens, the bitter player who will make everyone in camp miserable, and Mike McCarthy will play the role of friend Andy Ried, who was the coach that couldn't stand Owens antics any longer. Brett Favre continues to make waves this summer, and I am not talking about hanging ten on the beach. Favre, who wants desperatly to be wanted back by the Green Bay Packers, went on Fox's Greta Van Sustrien news show, and admitted that he feels unwelcome by the Packers, and, again, mentioned that he wants his outright release from the club. Favre was quoted as saying: ‘Well, playing here is not an option, but we can’t envision you playing with another team, you know, either.’ And I thought, so basically, I’m not playing for anyone if I choose to come back.” So you can tell that Favre thinks that he is a prisoner. What the Packers need to do is not tell Favre that he will be the backup quaterback, otherwise Packer fans will continue to protest in the parking lot. The Pack should just trade Favre out of the conference, or to a team Green Bay does not play on their schedule. MORNEAU 5 HAMILTON 3 Typical of past homerun derby's it is best NOT to try to hit more homeruns than Babe Ruth, and Henry Aaron combined in a single round. It is better to chip away and chip away until you win. You know, like almost everything in baseball. It appears that Josh Hamilton didn't get that message, as he belted 28 homeruns in the first round drawing cheers from a rather classless Yankee Stadium crowd, who booed all eight participants before the event even started. Hamilton broke the record for most homeruns in a single round, but like David Wright in 2006, and Mark McGuire in 1999, Hamilton tired as the evening went on and lost. Justin Mornueau, of the Minnesota Twins ended up winning the contest 5-3, doing just enough to win as he chiped away. He hit 17 homeruns combined in the first and second rounds, and put tremendous pressure on Hamilton, as he blasted three of his five homeruns with only two outs to go in the Final. All Star Game is tomorrow night.

Josh Hamilton of the Texas Rangers set a new record for the Homerun Derby contest, held tonight at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Hamilton blasted 28 homers in the first round, easily advancing into the second round, where he will face Lance Berkman of the Houston Astros, Ryan Braun of the Milwaukee Brewers, and Justin Morneou of the Minnesota Twins. METS 7 , ROCKIES 0 Guess what? The Mets won again. Guess what again? The Mets got another shutout. The Mets continue their virtuouso performance demolishing the Colorado Rockies 7-0, extending their winning streak to nine games, and keeping them just a half game behind the bumbling Philadelphia Phillies. Once again the Mets got great pitching from Mike Pelfrey, who was completely dominate from start to finish. Pelfrey went eight strong innings, walking none and strking out five. He was terrific; it got to the point that the Met fans were chanting his name in the eighth. Pelfrey and the Mets got all they needed in the first inning, as Carlos Beltran belted a three -run homerun into the old picnic area in left field. It was Beltran's 15th homer of the year, but his second homerun of the year while batting right handed. BLUE JAYS 4 YANKEES 1 The Yankees limp into the break, after another confusing weekend of confounding baseball, losing 4-1 to the Toronto Blue Jays, and losing the three game series 2-1. Andy Pettite struggled in his final start before the break, giving up four runs in six innings. He is now 10-7 on the season. Toronto got to Pettite early in this one, scoring all four runs in the second. Scott Rolen drove in Kevin Mench for the first run of the game. Three batters later, Marco Scutaro hit a three-run homer to right for a 4-0 lead. Scutaro is not new to killing the Yankees, he did last year while playing for Oakland, as he hit a game winning homer off of Mariano Rivera. Once again the Yankees offense was silent, as A.J. Burnett, who was pitching on just three days rest, shut down the Yankees for eight and a third innings. Burnett was dominate throughout, striking out eight, and not surrendering a run until the ninth inning. The loss by the Yankees continues what has been a bewildering...

Bobby Murcer 1946 - 2008 As has been reported numerous times over the course of the day, Yankee player and broadcaster Bobby Murcer passed away Saturday after a lengthy battle with brain cancer. He was 62 years - old. Murcer is best remembered by younger generations as broadcaster, working both at MSG with Jim Katt and Craig Singleton, and on FOX with Tim McCarver doing Yankee broadcasts. Still by older generations, especially Yankee fans, Murcer is best remembered for being a fan favorite as a player. He was a four time All Star, all with the Bronx Bombers. He hit .277 with 252 career homeruns. In 2006, Murcer was diagnosed and treated for cancer, and seemed to make a recovery, as he helped broadcast the Yankees 2007 home opener.
