Giants' Skattebo Out for the Season After Hideous Injury

Giants running back Cam Sktattebo will miss the remainder of the 2025 season after suffering a gruesome dislocated ankle injury in Sunday's 38-20 loss at the Philadelphia Eagles.  On Monday afternoon, Head Coach Brian Daboll confirmed Skattebo's surgery went well, and is on the road to recovery.   The Giants rookie tailback spent the night in Philadelphia for emergency surgery because it involved a "open dislocation," according to ESPN.  He was discharged on Monday.  Skattebo posted to social media:   "Surgery went well. I just want to thank the city of Philly for taking the best care of me. Every moment I spent in the hospital with family and friends I felt loved and supported in every way ... thank you to the doctors, surgeons, and staff that did their best work on me. This is just the beginning of my journey and I can't wait to show you guys all about it!!! GOD has a plan for me , stick the course and it will all work itself out , BRB." ...

Jets Stun Bengals in Crazy Upset for First Victory

Maybe there was indeed an angel on the gridiron for the Jets on Sunday.  On the day, Jets Hall of Famer Nick Mangold passed away after a battle with kidney disease, his old team, the Jets found a way, through grit and determination to beat the Cincinnati Bengals 39-38 in a wild day in Cincy, Sunday.  Jets trailed by 15 points, 31-16 heading into the fourth quarter, before Justin Fields, who spent the week fielding questions about Owner Woody Jonshon's disrespectful comments about the quarterback, put on one of the best games of his career.  Fields completed 21 of 32 passes for 244 yards and a touchdown; he even ran in for a two-point conversion, and totaled 31-yards rushing on the ground. It was a huge moment for the Jets quarterback, who not only had to deal with critics, from the fans to ownership, but was reportedly crying on the floor of his closet, praying for a win, and turnaround. He got it, and so did the Jets.  While he won't admit it, let's be fair J...

Jets Legend Nick Mangold Passes Away From Kidney Disease

New York Jets legend, and team Hall of Famer, Nick Mangold, who starred as the center of the Jets AFC Championship game runs in 2009 and 2010 passed away Sunday morning after a battle with Kidney disease. Mangold was only 41 years old.  Born and raised in Ohio, Mangold played collegiality at Ohio State, before getting drafted by the Jets in 2006. He was one of two cornerstone offensive lineman drafted by the Jets that season, along with D'Bricksaw Ferguson.  Together, Mangold and Ferguson formed one of the best offensive lines in Jets history, clearing the way for guys like Thomas Jones and LaDainian Tomlinson. Mangold was a member of the 2009 and 2010 Jets team that went all the way to the AFC Championship game.  Mangold played 11-years in the NFL, all with the Jets.  His former teammates and coaches who have found second careers in sports media all poured in emotional tributes to the fallen Jets icon.  Ex-Jet Head Coach Rex Ryan was beside himself with ...

Woody Johnson's Comments on Justin Fields Leaves Jets Tailspining.

Welcome to Woody's World.  In case you are new to this ride, in case you've never seen how low the New York Jets can go, welcome. That is the message fans and those who have seen this movie before have for the likes of Head Coach Aaron Glenn and his quarterback Justin Fields.  Because this week, amid a miserable, disappointing 0-7 season they are getting their taste of life under Jets owner Woody Johnson.    It all started Tuesday when Johnson held court with an impromptu press conference, when Johnson delivered over five uncomfortable minutes on the state of the team.  We got weird quotes like Johnson saying he "hugs" Aaron Glenn , and tells him to "Keep the faith, man" amid this current disaster.  In so praising his head coach whom he says he believes in and has known for close to 30-years, Johnson then ripped Fields by saying:   "It's hard when you have a quarterback with a rating that he's got. I mean, he has ability, but something just...

Knicks Win Opener over Cavs; Nets Stung by Hornets

The New York Knicks tipped off the Mike Brown era, much the same way they played during the Tom Thibodeau era, by storming back late to hold off an opponent. This time the opponent was the Cleveland Cavaliers, Brown's former team, as New York won 119-111 to open the 2025-26 season.  After enjoying a 15-point lead at the break, Cleveland stormed all the way back, tying the game at 87 entering the fourth quarter. Thanks to a 14-0 Knicks run spurred by a OG Anunoby slam dunk that tied the proceedings at 89, and a Miles McBride 25-foot three pointer, the Knicks never looked back.  McBride led what was a much maligned Knicks bench last postseason, with 15 points over 26 minutes of action on Wednesday night. Overall the Knicks bench finished with 35 points, a stark difference from last May when the Knicks couldn't find guys to hit buckets off the bench.  Meanwhile the usual suspects continued to flex for New York. Anunoby and Carl Anthony-Towns both contributed a double-double,...

Giants Suffer Historic Collapse in Denver

What the hell was that??  The New York Giants suffered one of the biggest meltdowns in NFL history as they blew a 19-0 fourth quarter lead, only to lose 33-32 as the Denver Broncos came away with a wild, and highly improbable victory on Sunday afternoon at Mile High.  The 33-points Denver scored in the fourth quarter were the most points any team had ever, EVER scored after getting shut out in the first three quarters of a game in regulation. Moreover it snapped a streak of 1,602 games where teams won when leading by 18+ points in the final quarter.  That is some damning history that the Giants never wanted to make. And guess what? They did.   The quarter opened with the Giants and Broncos exchanging scores to give Big Blue a 26-8 lead with 10:14 left in the contest. By all intents and purposes, after Theo Johnson caught a Jaxson Dart fastball on a ricochet and rumbled into the end zone, it looked like this game was over!  But the Broncos came back. D...

Jets Sleepwalk to Woe and Seven

In case you busy catching some Z's on Sunday afternoon, the New York Jets suffered their seventh straight defeat, this time in dismal fashion, 13-6 to the Carolina Panthers at MetLife Stadium.   If you were hoping for things to change from last weeks dismal 13-11 loss to Denver, it didn't. The Jets continue to play like a team asleep at the wheel, and Aaron Glenn continues to struggle with decision making, roster moves, and just about anything when it comes to coaching this franchise.    On the games opening drive, Glenn had his Jets go for it on fourth and five at the Carolina 33-yard line, instead of kicking a makable 51-yard field goal. The Jets of course blew that fourth down play as Justin Fields' pass was wide of its intended target.  And like last week, whether it was the fact that the Jets were short-handed offensively or not, Glenn's offense again failed to do anything in the two minute drill as the clock expired with New York down 10-3. There was...

Rutgers Gets Annihilated by Oregon 56 - 10

As a surprise to virtually nobody, Rutgers was no match for the Oregon Ducks on Saturday night as the number 8 ranked Ducks came away with a convincing 56-10 victory, sending Rutgers to its fourth consecutive loss.  The final score wasn't even indicative of the kind of performance Oregon put on display in Piscataway on Saturday night. Quarterback Dante Moore, who is considered one of the top prospects at the position for next spring's NFL draft threw for 290 yards on 15 completions and four touchdowns. That was good enough to keep with Indiana's Fernando Mendoza, who threw four scores and 332 yards in an Indiana victory over Michigan State.  Both quarterbacks are Heisman Trophy hopefuls, and both could go 1 and 2 in the draft next year.  Moore wasn't alone though. The Ducks gashed the Scarlet Knights for 415 yards on the ground, and 750 total yards. An effort that Rutgers Head Coach Greg Schiano called "disappointing."   "I’m very disappointed in those n...

Jets Look Lost in London in 13-11 Fiasco vs. Denver

The New York Jets are 0-6, but how they got their on Sunday across the pond in beautiful London, England is another story. Gang Green lost the game they way they have lost their five previous games: poor coaching, worse execution, a quarterback who looks tepid in the pocket, and a Head Coach with no answers.  If that doesn't describe the state of the Jets not just this year, but seemingly every year, I don't know what does. And this was the second straight year that the NFL had sent the Jets overseas to the U.K., and I am sure the fine people of Britain would like the Jets to stay home next time.  The Jets are now 1-3 all time in London, and Sunday's 13-11 loss the Denver Broncos punctuated the current state of the winless guys in Green.  Justin Fields completed just nine passes for a net gain of minus-10 yards!! MINUS-10 YARDS!!!  He was under siege all afternoon, sacked nine times as his proclivity to hold the ball too long persists.  When pressed about ...

NFL & NFLPA Investigating Giants for Dart Concussion

Even as the excitement settled on Friday afternoon from the Giants 34-17 victory over the defending Super Bowl Champion Eagles on Thursday night, the NFL and NFL Players Association are actively, looking into whether the Giants and Head Coach Brian Daboll broke protocol with regards to the health of quarterback Jaxson Dart.   Dart left the game briefly in the third quarter after taking a huge hit with trying to plow through a linebacker. It was not a smart move initially by the quarterback, who sat on the ground for a few minutes, before popping up and running to the blue tent to check for a concussion.    It was the second time in three weeks this has happened with Dart, who hasn't learned to slide yet.  As the Giants started to struggle for a couple plays with Russell Wilson under center, Daboll could be seen following Dart and the doctors into the tent. Moments later Daboll was scene exchanging words with the team doctor, Dr. Scott Rodeo, and let's just...

Dart & Skattebo Prove Giants are Back after Big Win

Let's be honest before anyone sat down to watch the New York Giants take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night, you thought you were in for a major blow out. The Eagles would come out flying, and punch the Giants right in the mouth, and Big Blue would crumple to the floor with a record of 1-5.  Would you expect anything else?    Especially after the Giants blew a 14-3 lead to winless New Orleans last week. WINLESS NEW ORLEANS!!!  Especially with the Jets at 0-5; the Yankees eliminated from the playoffs just the night before, and the Mets, who spent three months spiraling out of control, until a miserable finish three weeks ago.  So when the Giants not just defeated, but pounded the daylights out of the defending Super Bowl Champions 34-17, it changed the game. Suddenly, we have something to latch on to in New York. A young Giants team, led by it's rookie quarterback in Jaxson Dart, and rookie running back in Cam Skattebo.  They are both so youn...

Jays Outsmart Yankees in Game 4, Advance to ALCS

Led by the effervescent Vladimir Guerrero Jr., the  Toronto Blue Jays found a way to both outsmart, and outlast the New York Yankees in Game 4 of the American League Division Series, winning 5-2, and taking the series 3-1. The Jays advance the American League Championship Series for the first time since 2016.  While Toronto opened this series flexing its muscle, they used guile in Game 4 to sneak past a Yankees team that fell back into a funk offensively in the biggest game of their season to date.  New York left 10 men on base in Game 4, and were a paltry 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position. Seven of those 10 stranded runners came in a three inning span between the sixth and eighth innings.  The biggest and best opportunities came and went for the Yankees in the seventh and eighth innings. In the seventh, the Yankees had two runners aboard for Trent Grisham. All he had to do was get on base because Aaron Judge loomed on deck. In a 4-1 game, who knows what could...

Judge Powers Yankees to Wild Game 3 Victory

For years Yankees fans have waited and wondered when Aaron Judge would have his signature moment in the playoffs.  Well, with New York's proverbial backs to the wall on Tuesday night, Judge lifted his team to new heights when he crushed a three-run homer, as the ball caromed off the left field foul pole, tying the game at six in the fourth inning. It was all part of a humongous comeback as the Yankees scored eight unanswered runs in a 9-6 thriller over the Blue Jays at the Stadium.  Toronto's lead in now sliced in half at 2-1.  "I guess a couple ghosts out there in Monument Park helped kind of keep that fair," Judge joked afterwards.  Perhaps it was the ghosts, because the Yankees Game 3 comeback felt erriely similar to Yankees heroics of the past. Think Games 4 and 5 of the 2001 World Series when the Yankees got off the decks to stun the Arizona Diamondbacks, who looked poised to clinch a world championship in the Bronx.  Or, of course, Aaron Boone's walk...

Yankees Now Face Elimination after Jays Explode

The New York Yankees are once again on the precipice of disaster.  For the second time in this postseason the Yankees will give the ball to Carlos Rodon in a must win situation, after the Bronx Bombers were bombed by the Toronto Blue Jays 13-7 in Game 2 on Sunday afternoon. The Jays lead the series 2-0, and it hasn't even been close.  In two games the Blue Jays have outscored the Yankees 23-8, and have hit eight home runs in the process. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. leads the way with a pair of homers, six RBI and a .667 batting average in the two games up at Rogers Center.    The Yankees offense meanwhile has been punch-less. They were no hit for 5.1 innings on Sunday by rookie Trey Yesavage, who was making only his fourth start in the Majors and first even against the Yankees.   Ginacarlo Stanton who was so great a year ago in October, is hitting .067 this year. Aaron Judge, despite a .400 batting average in the playoffs has only one RBI all postseason. Co...

Jets Serious Contenders for First EVER 0-17 Season

The New York Jets are 0-5. They are all by themselves the worst team in the NFL after a 37-22 drubbing at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon.  The New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans, both of whom were also winless heading into Week 5, won their games on Sunday. The Saints stunned the Giants 26-14, an inexplicably bad loss for Big Blue. The Titans grabs victory from the Cardinals out in the desert.  So only the Jets are 0-5. They can't tackle. They can't pressure the opposing quarterback. They are the first team ever in NFL history to start a season 0-5 and not force a single turnover. Their offense is miserable. Breece Hall, despite rushing for 113 yards, fumbled on a play that killed any hope the Jets had early in this contest.    Justin Fields was dreck. Yes, his stats look good, but it was garbage time. Maybe the Jets should bench him?  Either way Head Coach Aaron Glenn has now done something neither Rich Kotite nor Adam Gase ever ...

Ex-Jets QB Mark Sanchez Arrested After Getting Stabbed in Indy

In one of the most bizarre stories of the entire week, former New York Jets quarterback-turned broadcaster, Mark Sanchez was charged with three misdemeanors, and was stabbed and sent to the hospital in the process in Indianapolis on Saturday.  Sanchez was charged with battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and public intoxication, which are all misdemeanors. He was not booked as of Saturday night.  Sanchez was reported in stable condition.  Both Sanchez and the unidentified grease truck driver, indentified only as P.T. in an affidavit, obtained injuries.  The news which was first reported by Fox 59/CBS 4 in Indianapolis .  According to reports, Sanchez was at the hospital in stable condition, and arrested for his role in an altercation with a 69-year old grease disposal truck driver outside Lougmiller's Pub & Eatery in downtown Indianapolis.   Reports indicate that Sanchez was behaving erratically, who got into an altercation with...

Yankees Get Dropped Hard by Jays in Game 1

BLUE JAYS 10 - YANKEES 1 Powered by home runs Vladimir Guererro Jr. and a pair of long balls by Alejando Kirk, the Toronto Blue Jays thumped the New York Yankees 10-1 in Game 1 of the American League Division Series on Saturday afternoon.  Riding the highs of Cam Schlittler's eight-inning gem on Thursday night, the Yankees looked toothless against Kevin Gausman and the Jays on Saturday.  New York managed only four hits against Gausman, as the Jays ace baffled the Yankees most of the afternoon.  Perhaps the turning point of this contest came in the top of the sixth inning, the Jays leading 2-0, when the Yankees loaded the bases. However Gausman fooled Aaron Judge on a change-up low and outside for a swinging strike three for the first out of the inning.    After Cody Bellinger walked on four pitches on four pitches, Ben Rice popped up to third base for out number two, and Giancarlo Stanton struck out to end the threat.  The Yankees never got close agai...

Schlittler Delivers Gem as Yankees Trounce Sox in Wild Card Finale

Yankees rookie right hander Cam Schlittler delivered one of the best performances by a Yankees starter in a playoff game, as New York routed the Boston Red Sox 4-0, en route to Toronto for the American League Division Series.  Schlittler didn't look like a guy starting his first ever playoff game. He looked like he had done this for years as he cooled the heels of the Red Sox over eight brilliant innings.  He struck out 12 batters, allowed only five hits and walked nobody. Routinely Schlitter was hitting 100 mph + on the radar gun all night as the Red Sox couldn't keep off his slider, and couldn't catch up to his four seem and two seem fastballs.  According to Yahoo Sports Schlitter "broke the Yankees' record for most strikeouts in a postseason debut. He became the first rookie to hit double-digit strikeouts in a postseason game in 28 years. He's the first pitcher, ever , to post at least 12 strikeouts, zero walks and at least eight scoreless innings."...
